HauteHaus Digital is a video production studio based in Providence, RI. The company’s services include live video and motion graphics, with a diverse clientele that ranges from large corporations to independent musicians and niche non-profits. HauteHaus’ founders wanted to present the studio’s work in a sophisticated, professional manner. Their small, tight-knit crew didn’t include a web developer, so they wanted a website that was easy to edit and wouldn’t require advanced knowledge to maintain it and keep the components up-to-date.
I developed a custom theme for HauteHaus using WordPress, Foundation 6 and Advanced Custom Fields. With a focus on both back-end and front-end UI, my development process includes adding instructions in WordPress for the custom fields. For example, every image field has specific pixel dimensions to make sure the site remains cohesive through changes in imagery and portfolio items. The company wanted to keep the site minimal, without navigation links in the header. The hamburger icon opens an overlay menu that functions the same regardless of device size and keeps the header from being cluttered. This was one of the first custom WordPress themes I developed and it was a valuable learning experience for using CSS frameworks and working with dynamic content using PHP.
